Wednesday!

Today we traveled to Scotland!  We colored the flag, and learned all about native foods, including turnips, potatoes, and carrots.  We had some for snack!  We visited the Edinburgh Castle, and created some beautiful ones of our own.  We also learned that some of the people speak Gaelic and learned some new words:

Tha (haa) yes

Chan eil (han-yel) no

Hallo (hallo) hello

Mor sin leat (mar-shin-let) goodbye

It is a beautiful language to hear!  We listened to some people speaking it on YouTube, including a boy saying the Lord's Prayer.  

Today we also heard about the legend of the Loch Ness Monster, Nessie.  We watched a short documentary about it, and the children had fun discussing whether or not they think it is real.  We created our own versions of Nessie, with clay, and will paint these tomorrow.
